The Saga Otaimatsu Torch Festival is held every March 15 at Seiryo-ji Temple, celebrating Buddha's passing. Three 7 meter tall torches are set on fire, with giant flames and embers flying everywhere. In fact, it's said to be good luck if embers land on your clothes.

毎年3月15日、清涼寺でお釈迦様の入滅を祝う「嵯峨御松明式」が開催される。高さ7メートルの松明3本が燃やされ、巨大な炎や燃えかすがあちこちに飛び散る。実際、服に火がつくと縁起が良いと言われている。
