Aoshima (青島 - Blue Island) is a small island of palm trees just off the beach in Miyazaki City. There is a short pedestrian bridge to the island.

In the middle of the palm trees is Aoshima Shrine; and surrounding the island are unique, very old rock formations referred to as the Ogre's Washboard, because that's what they look like :-) You can see some of these straight line rock formations on the right side of the photo.
