Evening at the row of izakaya restaurants on the ground floor of Miyashita Park, a 4 story retail development with skatepark and beach volleyball court on top, sandwiched between JR train lines and the now underground Shibuya River. It‘s a cool place.

I had originally thought these small eateries existed before the project was built, but further research reveals this area was previously a public park and homeless encampment.

夜は宮下公園の居酒屋街で。宮下公園は4階建ての商業施設で、最上階にはスケートパークとビーチバレーコートがある。クールな場所だ。

私は当初、こうした小さな飲食店はこのプロジェクトが建設される前から存在していると思っていたのだが、さらに調べてみると、ここは以前は公共の公園であり、大規模なホームレスの野営地であったことが判明した。
