Spent the day crossing over Mt. Hiei, between Kyoto and Otsu to the east. There is a cable car up each side of the mountain and we rode them both. 😀

This is the view to the northeast, looking at Lake Biwa, with Otsu and the Omi Ohashi Bridge in the center. At the top are a number of famous temples, including Enryaku-ji, established in the 8th century, the main building of which currently undergoing a 10 year remodeling.

In the bottom photo you can see both Otsu on the left and Kyoto on the right.

大津から京都まで比叡山をあるき渡る一日を過ごしました。山の両側にケーブルカーがあり、両方に乗りました。😀

大津市と近江大橋を中心に、琵琶湖を北東に眺めています。延暦寺は比叡山の頂上にあり、8世紀に設立され、現在改修が行われています。
