Looking north at some of the dozens of islands in the Geiyo Islands chain and the Shimanami Kaido (aka Nishiseto Expressway) that hopscotches across them, in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Hiroshima in western Japan. In this section of a larger panorama taken from Imabara in northwest Shikoku, the Oshima, Omishima and Hakata Islands can be seen.
Popular with cyclists, the Shimanami Kaido contains 55 bridges and crosses through 9 different islands over a distance of over 59 kilometres (37 miles); linking Shikoku Island with Japan's main Honshu Island.
