Went to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (北野天満宮) in northern Kyoto for their beautiful display of plum blossoms this morning.
A sprinkle of snow(!) was falling as I left the house, but when I got to the shrine the sun came out for a while.
They look like cherry blossoms, but after some research I was able to confirm that these are white plum blossoms. Most cherry blossoms are still about 10-15 days out according to the web sites that obsessively cover the bloom as it moves across Japan during the next six weeks.
